Joe Budden apologizes to Olivia Dope for making her feel uncomfortable in the workplace

Joe Budden has responded to claims by DJ Olivia Dope that she was sexually harassed by the former rap star.

Olivia Dope is Budden’s former co-host of See, The Thing Is. Yesterday, May 17, Dope issued a statement where she made the accusations. She alleged that Budden made several and continuous sexual remarks to her that made her feel uncomfortable.

Not surprisingly, a little while after the statement was made public, a video began making the rounds on social media, which showed Joe Budden giving Dope a hug during the recording in a somewhat provocative manner as his hips could be seen moving during the embrace.

The Rolling Stone obtained Joey’s official statement responding to Dope’s allegations. He acknowledged his role in making Dope feel uncomfortable and apologized for the incident as well. While he didn’t totally admit to sexual harassment, he said that the episode would be removed to not further escalate Dope’s trauma.

“As a podcaster, it is my job to address topics and create dialogue around them,” Budden said in his statement. “During the conversation on the See, The Thing Is podcast I didn’t handle the topics with the sensitivity they deserved. I recognize my words and power in that situation created an upsetting environment for Olivia. Upon reflection, both the network and I take accountability for this. I apologize sincerely to Olivia, her former co-hosts, our staff, and the public. In an effort to not further any trauma, the episode will be removed from all platforms.”

He added that he and the network support women’s rights to feel comfortable while doing their job and that they should be protected and feel protected in the workplace. Budden also admitted that his podcast fell short of that and pledges to make it right by first start listening.

He ended the statement by saying that it was the network’s intention to “elevate Black women’s voices and create opportunities to have constructive conversations to impact change.”

Joe Budden – The Truth Lyrics

(Yeah) Uh
(New Joe Budden)
(It’s) Uh
(It’s… it’s that On Top Music!)
(DJ Go, Joe Budden)
(You now listenin’ to “The Truth”)
(DJ OnPoint, Joe Budden, let’s go)

[?] old soul through the fire and tears
A nigga seen too much, a little wise beyond my years
But ain’t nothin’ changed or raped me (nah)
And fame ain’t made me (nah), but the game’s tryna drive me crazy
Oh-three was kinda rough (tell ’em why)
Two burners pulled out on me, none of ’em bust
One dude both times, and only one of ’em bust
Nobody killed around, almost like I got a shield around me (you heard)
You haters wanna holler? (Then here)
I’m on the same corner as the Muslims with the paper for a dollar
Don’t care what you doin’, you let your temper flare and start brewing
You’ll be sorry this year like Rubin
Got robbed once, a nigga truck broken into
And I made some new friends, is it all coincidental?
A few dudes got them llamas waitin’ to hit you
Look what a Vibe award and Grammy nomination’ll get you, uh
Had one fistfight with a nigga, six-five (right there)
Jersey City Grounds Chicken where it gets live (right there)
Rumours, crazy ass thoughts about me
And artists that I don’t know, they wanna talk about me
Your family I.D. you in the morgue if you doubt me
Female rappers too, I don’t give a what, boo
Like I don’t read what you pricks’ll say to a magazine?
Y’all won’t say it to a magazine (faggots)
But I write the real most DJs won’t play (uh-huh)
What people might think, but a nigga wouldn’t say (talk to ’em)
Everybody runnin’ round frontin’, what is this?
The industry don’t want it to be none of your business, uh
But I’ma still be regular Joe, fuck it
And Def Jam want me to make hits with no budget
Lyor [?] Kev I still make hits with no [?]
And give myself to whole public (come on)
Yeah, nigga

Joe Budden – Freestyle

Intro: Styles P (Talking)

Real MC shit you know
Jedi’s on deck pay attention
Fuck y’all niggas talkin’ bout?
Verse 1: Styles P

Lyrical last dragon, acid saliva
Guns are the bars yeah the casket provide it
You can ask a survior, you can ask a supplier
He’s hot headed, he’ll leave you as masses on fire
I’m the ghost rider that’ll kill your ghost writer
Make him OD on heroin, he’s a dope writer
If you had it written don’t you tell me that you spittin’
Imma say you bullshittin’ and go suck a dick
And get a hand gun and stand there and take this ass whippin’
Yeah, I’m 41 but you ain’t got to act dumb nigga
I ain’t got a problem killing 41 young niggas
14 years ago I had 41 guns nigga
I was movin’ work at like 41 slums nigga
Told my nigga Budden we don’t always get along
But one things for sure, we can have a rap discussion
We know we got bars and these little niggas don’t
Let’s lock ’em up, just slaughter ’em, make it look disgusting
Cut from a cloth that God made
Waring in the devils’ land when I want to war knockin’ ‘I Pray’
Could kill MC’s for like 5 days
I’m talkin’ Monday through Friday
Go and pick up then dump ’em on the highway
Yeah, you should know that the ghost here
Space ghost, kill ’em all, then say the coast clear (yeah)

Verse 2: Joe Budden

A nigga vision is so clear
Even through the mystici , keep the pope near
Was big out in L.E.S., this ain’t Joe clear
Gossip gets deaded as soon as it hits Joe’s ear
So the venom is caged, I’m underpaid
I can only give ’em minimum rage
I came up when all they respected is violence
If you know, it’s something to be said in my silence
Only time we vacate is when we left for the islands
Stash in the bathroom, police severed the tiling
Got football numbers when the squad was pinched
Well deserved, we put Eagles in the cars and went
Listen, the fame you can keep
Some niggas became sheep
But before I ever snitch, I refrain from speech
All I hear is niggas talkin’ bout Game and Meek
I’m in the crib thinkin’ this entire game is meek
This shit has changed Ghost
They lowered the understanding
Prisoner of my mind claustrophobic in my mansion
But you and ‘Kiss told me we gon’ make it
Say whatever you want about him he don’t fake it
You rarely see me out, I don’t be most places
In bars it’s still shit that real G’s hold sacred, yeah
That’s probably why they adore me though
Lastly before we go, rest in peace Shawty Lo
