The United States imposed visa restrictions against 2.6 thousand military men of Russia and Belarus
The military and their relatives will no longer be able to obtain an American visa. Washington imposed visa restrictions on 2,596 Russian military personnel and 13 Belarusian military officials, now these people, and also, their family members will not be eligible for a US visa, the US State Department said. The full list of names has not been published.
The military is accused of violating human rights. The State Department believes that all persons on the list are responsible for actions “that threaten or violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine,” or supported them.
In particular, the list includes a former commander brigades of special forces of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Dmitry Pavlichenko, ex-head of the department Yuri Sivakov and former presidential affairs manager Yuri Sheiman.
The United States also placed eight Russian companies associated with the maritime sector and shipping on the sanctions list:
- Oboronlogistics LLC;
- SK Yug LLC;
- JSC “Northern Shipping Company” (SMP JSC);
- Transmorflot LLC;
- M-Leasing LLC;
- Marine Trans Shipping LLC;
- Nord Project Transport Company LLC;
- Fertoing LLC.

“These actions serve as a warning to private Russian companies about that those who support Putin's war machine risk paying a heavy price,” — stated in the department.
Western countries began to impose sanctions against Russian officials and companies, as well as the defense and shipping sectors from the end of February. The top Russian leadership fell under them, including President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. At the end of April, the US Treasury imposed visa restrictions on 635 Russians, accusing them of violating human rights and involvement in violating the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Earlier, the EU and the UK imposed sanctions on the Russian Sovcomflot, as a result the company was unable to redeem the coupon on dollar Eurobonds-2028 in the amount of $8.3 million: the paying agent refused to accept the payment. The company stressed that they treat loans responsibly and confirmed their readiness to fulfill obligations under bonds. On May 6, the press secretary of Sovcomflot Anna Dubik told RBC that the company decided to sell part of the age-appropriate tonnage vessels, which, according to her calculations, are no longer appropriate to operate.
