The President of Kazakhstan said that he remains in close relations with his Russian counterpart
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a conversation with the host of the panel session of the Qatar Economic Forum, said that he was in close relationship with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. He stressed that they were not spoiled by the position of Nur-Sultan on the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR).

Tokayev stressed that Vladimir Putin remains a reliable ally of Kazakhstan. He also noted that the Russian leader was not disappointed by his words about the non-recognition of the DPR and LPR by Kazakhstan.
Moreover, according to Tokayev, after this statement, he and Putin had a meeting.
“No, we had a very good meeting right after the forum. We talked about specific issues relating to bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. He was very calm and self-confident,” said the president of the republic.
Speaking about the resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, Tokayev noted that the country’s non-nuclear status and its refusal to join any military organizations could lead to end of the conflict.
Last week, Tokayev, during a speech on the stage of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), in the presence of Putin, announced that Kazakhstan would not recognize the DPR and LPR. At the same time, he called these republics “quasi-state” territories.
Tokayev explained his position by saying that if you follow the principle of the right of nations to self-determination, more than five hundred states can form on the planet, which, in his opinion, will lead to chaos .
